1-month update!

We were recently called out by my sister Katie who noted that our blog was being neglected, so here is your 1-month update!

Little Miss Lucy is doing wonderfully! Just in the last week or so, she has really started becoming more interactive. When she is awake and in a good mood, she will focus right on us, staring into our eyes, and sometimes smiling and "talking". It is really cool to see the transition happening, and definitely makes all the hard stuff more worth it!

After our last update, we had a nice visit from Rick's mom Lois, aka "Bubbe LoLo". It was great having her here to help out, especially with baby-holding!!! We don't know who liked it more, Lucy or Lois! Lois even helped us with Lucy's first "real" bath, since she only had sponge baths until her cord fell off.

Grandma fight!!!

Lucy also went to her first party (the Tuttle-y Awesome Holiday Party) at Alex and Jannine's house. She was a perfect party animal, sleeping the whole time!

People keep asking us if we are getting any sleep, and I am happy to say that we are getting more than we were expecting. She has been sleeping for good stretches at night, requiring only one middle-of-the-night feeding. We are still not getting as much sleep as we are used to, but considering she is only a month old, I think she is doing pretty well!

Peaced out!

We would like to give a HUGE thank you to Cristina Vogel for organizing the food tree for us, and to all of our amazing friends for bringing us all of the delicious meals! We have dinners delivered three times per week until late January, and it has really been a life saver. I don't think we ever imagined how difficult something as simple as preparing dinner could be when also caring for a newborn! We are so grateful for the amazing community of friends we have here in Santa Barbara- you guys rule!

Oh yes, and Lucy started taking a bottle last week, which has been great, giving me occasional breaks from nursing. This past Saturday my mom came up and spent the evening taking care of Lucy so that we could have our first "date night" since the lady was born. It was nice to get out for a few hours and spend some time just the two of us!

Well I think that's about all the news from the last few weeks. We are looking forward to spending Lucy's first Christmas with my family in Camarillo, and we will be around SB for New Years. We hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday season!
